CHEAPER 3EETHODS NEEDED. (Received 0.:i0 a.m.) CAPETOWN, November 24. Negotiations arc proceeding between the Transvaal goldmines proprietors and the employees with the object of cooperating to secure increased efficiency with a view to reducing the cost of production. Sir Lionel Phillips, hi an interview, declared that low-grade mince can be saved without assailing the standard of living or a cheeseparing wages' policy. If the negotiations prove satisfactory capital will also be forthcoming to open new n>incs, but failing greater efficiency and increased output a laige section of the industry will he compelled to close.— (A. and N.Z.
