METHODIST SYNOD.
CENTENARY MOVEMENT
The Auckland Methodist Synod continued its sittings yesterday R ev F Copeland presented the report of the Centenary Committee. " The Hietorv of Methodism," the official book of "the movement, written by Rev. W J Williams, was now on sale. The amount now promised towards the £45,000 aimed at was over £33,000, of which Auckland djstrict had contributed £17,151. 4 memorial church is to be erected'at Kaeo and on the actual cite of the original mission station a cairn will be erected Special services will be held after the conference in March at The Synod expressed its profound thankfulness to God for the generous response to the appeal, and the marked success of the whole movement throughout the land. It was resolved that where possible all circuits should be requested to give all collections on Thanksgiving Sunday to the Centenary Fund, but that where this is not possible the surplus collections on that day be given to the fund. The attention of circuits is drawn to the fact that there are 53 Sundays in 1922. The Synod congratulated the Rev. W. J. Williams on the' completion of the centenary book, and gave its hearty approval to the volume and urged the circuits and home mission stations to push ite sale amongst the members. A Maori chief, Reihau Natana, addressed the Synod, giving a brief account of the contribution of the Maori people towards the centenary movement. The ! establishment of a girls' school was receiving the support of the Maori people. The following recommendation was passed: "That the Centenary Committee be constituted a New Century Committee to consider the future policy of the Church."

next year. To permit of this being done. ;it was recommended that Rev. H. Bansi ton, M.A. be released partly from circuit work to enable him to give more time to the work of the College. A probationer would have to be appointed to iihelp Mr. Ranston in the Auckland Cenitral Circuit.
