A NEW PRESIDENT. UNEXPECTED r>EA ! 7ELCyPMENT. An unexpected development has token place in respect to presklen-ey of the Auckland Waterside Workers' Union. iMr. N. SaVßCHsrs, who held the position for about two years, vacated the position, through, it in understood, some difference of opinion with the executive. An extraordinary election was consequently nvarte npee&wy, and four candidates, including Mr. Saunders, contested the office. The others were Messrs. O. G. Noakes, O. Mv-Brine, and ,Wm. Scares, wlu> resigned the position of vice-president to maJdc himself eligible for the contest. The result of the election was announced this morninj. Mr. 0. C!. Xoakes heinsr succcfKfitl. He was •vrcH received *htn addressing the watersiders sulbsequ'ent to the election. To-jnorrow he proceeds to New Plvnvouth to attend the annual conference of the Waterside Workers' Federation.
