BALANCE OX WRONG SIDE. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Though-the financial statement of the Cook Inlands to March :il shows an apparent credit of £7935), this '.includes £587 held in trust for natives and £31ii2 debits due to the administration. Thus the actual working . balance'is reduced to C 3-137. The Resident Commissioner remarks that against this there were debts due by the, administration incurred prior to 31st MaTch amounting to £7.12 G. tjf this amount .tSI2U has already been paid, and the balance will be paid as soon as fiinde are available. There are sums amounting in the aggregate to £-11340 li'jc to the administration for wireless receipts, stamp sales. High Court Sues. and fees, etc.. for the period 1920-21, and as these com« in the pressure will be much ■relieved. '"As the position is at present it is not possible," he adds, "for mc to undertake any new work, and I am confining myself to general organisation,-, (tarrying out some very neec3sary rcpr.ir.-i to Government building: nnd officers' residence-;. 1 estimate the revenue this year at between .tlli.'JllCJ and £17,000. and the expenditure at £-21,593. This expenditure, of course, includes debts, due before 31st March.
