RAILWAY PRESENTATION.
a very pleasant gathering of Railway officers 'took place on Thursday afternoon to bid farewell to (Mr. S Perciva Evans, locomotive engineer, Auckland district. Mr E. E. Gillon, in presenting Mr. Evans, on behalf of the locomotive oliicers of the Auckland district, with :i beautiful pair of solid silver candlesticks and a smoker's outfit, spoke in very high praise of Mr. Evans, both as an engineer and railway ollicer, and stated, 0 that, although the department could 'not alford to lose such valuable oliicers, afc Mr. Evans had decided- to retire from the railway service, he wished both Mrs. Evans and himself every prosperity for the future and assured him that he carried all the good wishes from the officers of the department. Mr. Pearson (Assistant Chief Mechanical Engineer), Mr. Koch (District Engineer), Mr. Grant (Assistant District Traffic Manager), Mr. Angus (Assistant Locomotive Engineer), Mr. Seager (Chief Clerk, locomotive engineer's office), Mr. Martin (Assistant Loco motive Foreman), Mr. McCarthy (Workshop Manager), Mr. Moore (Cat and Wagon Inspector), and others spoke of Mr. Evans in terms of the highest praise and joined in wishing him long life and happiness. It is under stood that 'ill'. Evans intends taking up in the near future, an important posi lion with Parcnga Ivauri Oil Fuels Company.
