LOCAL BODIES LOANS.
(By Telegraph.— Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Consent has 'been given to raising the following local foody loans:—Bay of Islands Harbour Board (purchase wharf and improvements), £40,000; Timaru Borough Council (electric power light works), £50,000; Timaru Borough Council (improving and extending waterworks), £10,000; Timaru Borough Council (purchasing omnibuses, etc.), £3000. The following maximum rates of interest for local loans have "been prescribed:—Six per cent: Matanwta County Council, £12,000, to purchase road construction plant and machinery; Cambridge Klectric Power Board, £10,000, for electric works constructionAt 6i per cent: Wellington City Council. £100,000, to be borrowed in Australasia, for water supply, street works, tramways, baths, fri'ncral improvements. At 7 per cent: Napier Borough Council, loans totalling £80,000, to be raised beyond New Zealand for electric power plant, tramway track, sewerage works, waterworks, etc.
