TANK AMPHIBIAN FAILS.
SINKS ON FIRST TRIAL. LOXDON, September 8. An amphibious paddle- wheel tank, built at Woolwich Arsenal, plunged into the Thames at hijjh water with throe officers aboard. It had got half-way across the river when it began to fill and sanlc. A patrol boat rescued the crew. The receding tide left the tank stranded on the mud. — (Router.)
