iA man named Jonathan Frederick Chapman, aged 62 years, died suddenly this morning. Deceased was employed at Messrs. Thompson and Hills', fruit preservers, kelson Street, for the past nine yeare. He was engaged at his usual work about ten minutes before 9 o'clock thie morning, when he was seen to drop and soon expired. Dr. was called in, and expressed the opinion that death was due to heart failure. Deceased was a married man with a grown up family. Sergt. O'Brien, of the Newton police, who loft yesterday for Taumarunui where he is to 'be in charge, was farewelled by members of the force at the Xewton station last evening. On behalf of those present. Sergeant O'Brien was presented with a ueeful suit case. Sergeant Lanigan, in handing the email token to the guest, referred in euitable terms to Sergeant O'Brien's excellent qualities. The guest suitably responded.
