SLIGHTED REFEREES.
PROTEST TO X.Z. UXIOX, The appointment of referees for the matches, in which the Springboks have taken part has caused i]uitc an amount of dissatisfaction among referees in the Auckland district, not one of whom has been given a match, while three-fourth J of the referees given matches have been those residing within the Wellington diotrict. The matter was brought up as ii meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union executive luot night, when the following resolution was carried:—-That the Xew Zealand Rugby Union's attention be drawn to the fact that of hi matches played against the Springboks, 1:2 were controlled by referees from the Wellington Provincial district, ami that no other referees in tin- North Inland were honoured by being selivted for une of these matches, ami. furthermore, thu union emphatically protests against tin , highhanded and apparently biassed action of the Referee*' Appointment Board in its method of selection.
