AUSTRALIANS DEFEATED. STRAIGHT SETS IN DOUBLES. NEW YORK, September 7. In an exhibition tennis doubles match, Washbnrn and Williams defeated Anderson and Todd (Australia), 6—3, 6—3, G2. The Australians played smoothlr together, but were not sufficiently forceful to hold their opponents. The Americans gained their principal opportunities in all the sets off Todd's service.
