The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 3rd inst., from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Meat. —Mutton market continues weak, specially for heavyweight. Lamb market slow with weaker tendency. More Home killed and Dutch, and better variety of meat available. Beef in better demand and tendency upwards. Argentine chilled supplies scarce. In suggesting a dividend of eight per cent Tor the year ended June 30 last, the annual report of the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company records a large decrease for tbe year in tbe number of sheep and cattle carcases killed and frozen, as well as in the cheese bandied, bnt an increase of 55 per cent in the quantity of butter .put into cold storage in that period. The fall in beef prices in Britain was stated as the reason for the falling: off in the number of cattle killed. NORTHERN BOOT COMPANY. FFV£ PER CENT DECLARED. A five per cent dividend was announced by the directors o.f the Northern Boot Company at the annual meeting of shareholders, held yesterday afternoon. Mr. G. veinstone presiding.
