(To the Editor.) Sir,—The article on above was timely and to the point, and just shows how badly in need the Railway Department is of a change of management lind policy. There seems to be no use made of any common sense on the part of those at the head of affairs when good revenue and profit is thrown away. As your article says it is a disgrace the state of things at the station when Main Trunk trains go out. It is a wonder the department don't do the came with all the trains, as they seem so anxious to e'top people from using them. They might just as well put up a big sign board telling the public not to travel for all the inducement given the public to do so. it is no wonder the railways do not pay when such absurd restriction? are still the order of the day. It is indeed a bad advertisement to New Zealand when such methods are used, and overseas visitors must think v≤ a long-<sufrering lot to put up with them so long. I consider a strong deputation should interview the Prime Minister on his return, and insist on a change of policy.—l am, etc., EDGAR KNIGHT.
