CHANNEL SWIM.
MRS. HAMILTON PESTERED. OBJECTIONABLE LETTERS. LONDON, August 23. Replying to a suggestion that the chart of her Channel swim and the contents of her log-hook would provide interesting reading, Mrs. Hamilton, who made this week an unsuccessful attempt to swim the Channel, refused indignantly. "Of course I have a chart and a logbook," she said, "but I'm just going to say not a word. I'm finlsned with it." She refuses trf allow her records to be published. Mrs. Hamilton received all sorts of letters, many of them objectionable. She swam merely for the love of the sport, and not for a wager. She declared that there was always a lot of jealousy shown ifter an effort like hers, adding, "Look at ;>oor Burgees — he was pestered for years." Asked if she intended to accept the challenge of Mrs. Willing to swim the Channel, Mrs. Hamilton replied that she would certainly ignore it. She added that she had been asked to give an exhibition at WestclifT, and remarked, "Though I'm very, very tired, I cannot refuse."
