AMERICA'S NAVY.
IMPORTANT MANOEUVRES. TESTING THE NEW SHIPS. NEW ¥ORK, September 6. • The Washington correspondent of tho "New York Herald" states that on September 7 tho American fleet in the Pacific will start autumn manoeuvres. Never since the war has so much secrecy been thrown about fleet movements and tho fighting strength of tho navy now in the Pacific. Post-Dreadnoughts, equipped with latest weapons will try their fighting powers, and bombing experiments similar to those carried out in the Atlantic will be tried under other conditions. The work of the Pacific fleet will have an important bearing on the standing of officers.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
