TAKAPUNA WATER SUPPLY.
Mr. R. T. Michaels reported to the meetini of the Devonport Borough Council lfv** night that the demand for £170 13/2 made on the council by the Lake Takapuna Board of Control was based on tlie proportion of water used by the borough. He had been informed that 90 per cent of tlie money collected was spent in clearing the weeds from the lake, and his retort had been that the work was very badly carried out. The money, he supposed." would have to be paid sooner or later.
On the motion of the Mayor it was unanimously agreed to ask the board to supply a statement of receipts and expenditure. Otherwise the matter was allowed to stand over. With reference to the watershed of the lake. Mr. Michaels snid thoTP was some talk of trying to protect it. The trouble seemed to be that cattle could graze and rove about on the edge of the lake. Such a condition was not conducive to good health.
