KING AND CONFERENCE.

MESSAGE TO THE PREMIERS. EMPIRE'S GOODWILL. SACRIFICES OF THE WAR. (By Cable.—l'ress Association.—Copyright.) (Rccived 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, August 10. Alter the .lose of the Imperial Con-" fercn.-c the IVime Ministers, in presenting their report. forwarded an address to the King. Mis Majesty to-day replied as follows: "Witli much satisfaction 1 received from members of the Conference on the close of their labours an assuring mc of their loyal devotion to myself and tin* throne. Still more am 1 gratified at their expressed conviction (hat tiic Crown is an important link uniting together in cohesion and strength the component parts of our great Empire. L have experienced stirring and ineffaceable proof of these sentiments in the enthusiastic and touching reception'! invariably given mc on the several occasions of mv visits to different portions of the world where the British flag flies.

"These proofs have been renewed in the remarkable demonstrations of welcome and goodwill toward the Prince of Wales in the Dominions and Colonies which he has visited in the last three years. Furthermore, where could one find such ample testimony of their common allegiance to the Empire and its Sovereign than in their noble self sacrifice during the four and a-half years of the world war? 1 have followed with kern interest the deliberations of the Conference. These meetings to exchange views between (he Ministers of the great communities they represent upon many problems affecting tlie common interest of tho British peoples is essential to the unity and well being of the Empire and the general nonce of the. world.

"Ewry facility must be given for such periodical meetings, and to ensure this wo look confidently to men of science and research to discover improved means of inter-communication between all parts of the British Commonwealth. I know tho work of the conference has been strenuous, entailing severe demands, mental ami physical, on all concerned, but their time has been well spent in the advancing further along the road of progress and development. I heartily thank them on mv behalf ami the Queen's for their address. We wish Godspeed to those leaving England and a safe and happy return to their respective homes and families. More than ever do we follow with feelings of affection and welfare our people at home across the sea. (Sinned) "GEOROE R. 1." — (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
