NEWMARKET ROADS.
PROPOSALS FOR IMPROVEMENTS.
The Newmarket Borough Council at Us meeting last evening considered proposals submitted by tlie Mayor (Mr. S. Donaldsonl in connection with the road-! of the borough. () n the motion of the' Mayor it was agreed that a poll of ratepayers be taken on the proposal to borrow CSOOO for constructing a portion of Broadway in concrete or other approved material, and a portion of Carlton Gore Road in bituco. The security for the proposed loan is to be 3d in the £, but there will be no necessity to lew this on the ratepayers. The mo"tion was carried. «
This.morning the council paid a visit to the railway bridge in Manukau Road to ascertam whether this portion of the road could be re-graded in order to have the entire thoroughfare constructed of concrete.
