1 ROBBERY AND KIDNAPPING. ONE DAY'S RECORD. XEYV YORK, August, 7. • An extraordinary record is published of one day's crime throughout the country. To-day bandits at Hackensaek, Xew Jersey, "stole a 40.000 dollars pay-roll. A highwayman in Altmont, Illinois, held up"a train and stole 15,000 dollars from the mail car. Kidnappers in Colma, California, abducted the Rev. Patrick Heslin, holding him for 50,000 dollars ransom. Robbers stole 15,000 dollars from a bank at Long Island City, Xew York. A sheriff's posse in Cleveland arrested five train robbers in connection witli a 50,000-dollar mail car hald-up on the Xew York-Pittsburgh train.— (A. and X.Z. Cable.)
