Cariaw presiding, a protest was received from the Marist Old Boys' Club claiming that the time agreed on had. not been. played in the Marist-Maritime match, on ■Saturday, and. in the absence of the referee, rhe committee deferred consideration until this evening, at a spe-i-l meeting. When the matter has- been decided, the draw for the Roopo Rooster competition, which is involved ia the decision, will _c made. A challenge from Huntly for the Thacker Shield was received, while the New Zealand League notified that the challenges of the Maritime and City Clubs conld not be dealt with on ai-count of the delay of the 4*anter-.ury Lea_nie in endorsing proposed amendments' to the rules of the Shield competition. The league added that a persistence of the Canterbury I.engiie in its attitude would result in the New Zealand Council considering the establishment of a New Zealand Loajrue club competition under more equitable rules than those now apclvin- to the Thai-kw Shield. The Hawke's Bay League notified that the Hawke's- Ray team would leave Napier on Angnst 4, to play Auckland on August C.
