PARNELL WOMEN PRACTISE.
A LADYLIKE GAME. IN BLOUSES AND BLOOMERS. On the Parnell borough reserve, opposite Campbell Park, the Parnell young women who think they would like to play League football had a retired practice on Saturday. Onlookers who happened to pass that way were rather doubtful as to whether it was League or Rugby which was being attempted, but whatever it was the ladies played it in a nice friendly manner, and "tackling low" was noti.eable by its absence. The result of this, the first essay of the ladies, is not known, but the contestants seemed to thoroughly enjoy the outing. Blouses and bloomers were the prevailing costumes affected, and apparently the much discussed "shorts" arc still too much of an innovation. There was a re- | ferec on the ground, and line umpires I were also in evidence, but the control !of the game was not by any means J arbitrary.
