MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD

A meeting of the Mount ißonkill Ro.id Board was held last night. Tfccro were present: Messrs. G. E. T-uudley {chairman), J. I'eet. J. J. Preston. S. Hainon, K. J. Herd and S. Scarborough.

Itose and 'Crown Streets.—The Hon. C. I. 'l'srr, Minister of Education, wrote wioh regard to the connecting af atose and Crown Streets. Telephones.—'The Postmaster-General promised to consider the Board's request for the installation of automatic or slot telephones at {ireenwoud's Corner ■ and the Koyal Oak.

Tamaki Canal Route.—The Board agreed , to contribute one-fiifth (<£S ICV6) of 'Mr. 'F. C. Powell's account for services rendered in respect of the proposed Tamajki and Aianukau canal route. At the same time it disclaims any further liability in the matter.

Tram Service.—Mr. J. W. Shaoke-lford, Mayor of iMount Eden, asked the Board to support his Council's request ifor the extensiou of the Dominion liond tram service as far as the 'Mount Albert-Onehunga road. The chairman said the Board felt slighted at not being in-vited by the Mount iliden 'Council to join'-the last deputation to the City Council on the subject. The IBoard would, 'be pleased to 'be associated •with the next deputation, 'it was resolved to reply accordingly.

Mantf.iu Hoad. — A progress payment of £570 was patjsedf ffor payment to the contractor for paving "Mftnu'kau ißoad with concrete, but the Board declined to advance a further slim of £300, being r>o per cent of the value of. material on the ground, asked tor by the contractor.
