AN EPSOM MOTORIST'S EXPERIENCE.
Last night Mr. George Elliot met with an accident when turning from Clyde Road on to the Manukau Road. Along a portion c-f the latter the tram line ifas been excavated, and although it has been roped oil' and lighted in the usual manner the darknees was confusing, and the car took the wrong road. The task of getting the machine back to safe ground was not an easy one, and the rope further impeded the retreat of the car. Good pro-gres-s was being made when an outward bound car came along, fortunately slowly, and failed to observe that the route w.a-s blocked until within a few feet of the obstruction. Most of the motor was then clear, but the front wheel caught the force of the impact, and was badly buckled. Neither Mr. Elliot nor his two pa?eengere were injured, and thougli the car was at last easily got off the route, it had to be left on the roadside owing to its battered condition.
