NEW POLITICAL PARTY.
SUPPORT FROM AUCKLAND.
A LIBERAL ELEMENT.
That the work of organising the new political party IS proceeding steadily is evidenced from the support that ban been enlisted recently in Auckland, it being significant that a number of the gentlemen who were enrolled in the cause by the organising sec.JvtJ.ry, Mr. \\. !'• Black, are of Liberal propensities.
Last week Mr. Black at Wellington submitted hie report of !iis activities in Auckland, where a district council bad been formed. It comprised the following, whose membership was conlirmed: —
Messrs. 0. 11. Foster, district president: W. H. Hurt, vice-president: Montagu Pearn, treasurer and secivtury: Jno. Hardley.'A. E. Glover. Clifford Thompson, C. H. C'awkwell. Claude Allan, and 11. JfeKenzU* Smith. Messrs. C. H. Foster, W. H. Hart, and H. McKonzic Smith were elected to the National Executive Council as representatives of the Auckland district. This report was submitted at a special meeting of the National Executive Council of the National Progressive and Moderate Labour pa,rty. when the following executive councillors were present: — Messrs. Dunbar Kloane, vice-president, in the chair. E. Krllett. M.P., W. P. Black, J. H. llobart. S. Milne, R. Leslie Jones, W. T. S. Edwards, 11. Ivatt Graves, K. iB. Woodhead, On slow H. Bengc, J. H. Burgoyne Thomas. Llewellyn E. Williams. \V. F. Sherwood, and T. D. Collins. Mr. Kellott reported upon activities of the Dunedin District Council. The superannuation scheme of the party was further discussed, and the details finally confirmed. It was decided to hold a party meeting at the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, when the leader of the party (Mr. C. E. Statham, M.P.) will further expound the principles of the party to members and sympathisers.
