EGG-LAYING CONTEST.
Tlie second r.-ppk of the Auckland Ponttrykeepers' Association's third single pen n:d team ess-laying competition concluded last Monday, lucre was an Increased production In nil sections. Iv the duck section 13 possrhlps were laid. Mrs. McCnllough's No. 2 White Indian Runner has two possibles to her credit and leads the Individuals with 14 eggs. A number of the teams in each section are on the young side, and will not be In profit for several weeks. The entry in Slack Orpingtons (30 teams) Is. exceptional, and includes a team sent by .Mr. R. R. Christie, of Victoria. Australia, whose birds hold the world's reco-rd of 1739 for six pullets in a year's laying, one layIng 333 eggs. This fine record has been beaten by an Indian .Runner duck at the Christchurch competition, which had laid 340 eggs, with 14 days to go to complete 52 weeks' egg-laying. The single pen eystem of testing both dncke and fowls Is finding out many remarkable layers.
