CONTROLLED BY BOARD OF TRADK. 1 New regulations have been gazetted , empowering the Board of Trade to con- < trol the sale of timber. Prices are to be ■ according to lists issued by the Board j or in certain districts according to lists , issued by specified aawmillers' aasocia- i tions. The Board is authorised to issue ' licenses, subject to conditions, to per- , sons to carry on business as timber ! merchants. < No person other than a sawmiller or . a person licensed as a timber merchant shall, after two months from date, sell < sawn timber (rirau, matai, totara, kahi- J kutea. and kauri) in excess of 500 superticial feet in the aggregate in any one | year without the prior approval of the ' Board of Trade. J No timber produced from indigenous i trees shall be sold or offered for sale by ' public auction snve with the written ' authority of the Board of Trade. | The Board of Trade may, with the ' prior approval of the Minister in Charge : ;of the Timber Regulations, by resolu- j Ition exempt from the operation of the 1 I Order in Council any kind or classes of ' i timber. ' ! It is an offence for any person to ofTer !or give for the various grades of rimu, • ! matai. totara. kahikatea. or kauri priced in exepss of thnsp fixed by the OrrW-in-Council. This doos not apply to sales in , I pursuant of contracts in writing entered , into prior to the date of the regulations ! j provided that certified copies of tlio > contracts are filed with the Board of ■ Trade within flirty days.
