ANOTHER MOTOR FATALITY.

TWO LIVES LOST. SAD AFFAIR AT WANGANUI. (By to "Star.") WANGANUI. this dayAnother shocking accident occurred on Saturday night, and, as a result two young people lost their lives. The victims were Miss Violet Campbell and a young man named Leonard Adamson, who wen- run down by a motor car driven by Uernard Mullins. The young man resides at Hrunswkk. The car was on lie uay from Keith Street lo town, other passengers in the car bciii" Mr. .1. Rom-be. Miss Mulllns, and Miss" Kennedy. According to the driver the car slowed down on passing a tram stop in Dublin Street, and lie dimmed his headlight- to 801 l Street, and then put the lights full on again. Tlie car was. he state=, travelling at a moderate rate of speed. He knew nothing of tne accident until a moment later, when a bump was felt. Tbe car was then pulled up as quickly as possible. The drivers statement was endorsed by the other occupants of the car. who likewise saw nothing of the unfortunate victims until after tbe accident occurred. Miss Campbell went to the residence nf Mr. Adamson's mother in Pitt Street for tea. and about 7 p.m. walked in company with Mr. Adamson along Dublin street towards tlie town. Evidently they were crossing Dublin Street when the' accident occurred. After the accident Miss Campbell and Mr. Adamson were removed to the public hospital. The former, who was shockingly injured about the head, died soon after she waadmitted. Mr. Adamson was unconscious and very badly injured, suffering from hemorrhage of the brain. An operation was performed last night, but lie failed to rally, and died towards midnight. .Miss Campbell was but 20 years of age. Vesterdav a coronial inquiry was ripened by Mr. Wyvern Wilson, N.M., and the evidence of Messrs. Mullins and Roache and Miss Mullins was taken. It did not throw much lifrht on the tragedy, because nothing was seen of Miss Camphell or Mr. Adamson until they were run river. The inquiry was adjourned sine die.
