I CHRISTCHURCH. this day. j An echo of the visit of the Prince of Wales to Christchurch was heard at 8| meeting of the Christchurch Fire Board. when the secretary reported that account* were still outstanding against "he Royal Reception Committee for the attendance of firemen at the citizens* ball, and against the Garrison Ball Committee. The accounts had been regularly rendered without resiponse. The chairman said it was strange that the affairs of the reception committee should not nave been wound up. Another member explained that, there had been a lar. c deficit in connection with the entertain-1 ment of the Prince and the affairs of the Royal Reception Committee in con-! sequence had nort been wound up. It would be a graceful act for the Board io r'orepo the account against thp Royal Reception Committee. After discussion, it wus resolved that no action be taken in connection with the reception committee account. Questioned subsequently, the treasurer to the reception comiiiittee said that all ■ the committee's accounts had been paid except £1096 owingrtothe City Council's electricity department, and one of £ ifl ■ wir.p to the Sre board. Tie has not paid iheni, because he has only £37 in hand, so that the excess of liabilities OA'er assets jis £6SS. The total expenses of the Royal Reception Committee were 50468. and all promised contributions. Including tie Government subsidy, had been received.
