SUPREME COURT COMMITTALS
At the Police Court yesterday afternoon, before Messrs. 1). Flynn and \V. J. Rrinsden, a numl)er of indictable cases were lieard. and several accused persons were committed to the Supreme Court lor and sentence. Michael Mallev, a man 71 years of age (Mr. Singer), denied having indecently assaulted a little girl of six and a-half years, and was rommitted for trial. Tlic theft of several articles of clothing, vaJued at £2 7/11. from John Court, Ltd.. drapers. Queen Street, was preferred against Jessie Meeske (Mr. Tipping!. Kvideme for the prosecution showed that the accused had been detained when leaving the premises, and the artrrlcs foimd in licr possession. A plea of not guilty was entered, and the accused was committed for trial. A young man. Frederick John Taylor, admitted a number of charges of forging cheques to the value of £20. £". and £2 1(1/, of forging a telegram, and of stealing a birthday book. All charges were admitted in a statement to a detective, and accused was committed for sentence.
