A FATHER'S KISS
LEADS TO SONS EXECUTION. ALSATIAN WHO FOUGHT FOR FRANCE.
UENEVA, March i>. A pathetic war story of a father's kiaa that led to his son's execution has just been disclosed. David Rloch, an Alsatian, deserted from the Werman army in 1015 and joined lieneral Vetain's army, where Ire was employed ft* un airman owing to his extensive knowledge of (i-erman territory. Bloch landed scores of times behind the German liws and escaped, but a month before the armistice the. engine of his aeroplane exploded, and he was captured. His identity was suspected, but the Alsatian strenuously denied it. His captors then brought his aged father at midnight to the lad's bedside. The father, not suspecting the plot, showexi that Ive recognised his son. The airman said: "I do not know this man," but the father, still not realising the situation, embraced and kissed the. lad. who broke down under the ordeal, and confessed his id-entity. He was immediately taken outside and shot. His body was recently discovered in the garden, and was reinterred with military honours.— (A. and N.Z. Cable)
