THE REGATTA.

A RECORD CARNIVAL. KEEN RACING. The Anniversary Regatta on Saturday broke all previous records, both for the prize money distributed, the number of entrants, the enthusiasm shown in all the racing, Cue size of the crowds that followed the day's sport with great interest, and for the revenue derived. Everything fell right into the hands of Ihe committee. The weather was just right for the yachtsmen, with a fresh sailing breeze holding steadily from the south-west. The schooner Hui.i was tho flagship, out only the officials were aboard her, and the real regalia headquarters, so far as the public was concerned, was the Calliope Dock, where 11.M.5. Chatham and H..M. sloop Veronica wore moored, j | Large crowds of sightseers inspected both vessels during; tho day. The officials gathered together after the regatta an.l Mr. A. Burt, chairman of tho committee, congratulated his assistants anil executive officers on tho fact thai all previous records had been I broken.
