GENERAL LABOURERS' DEMAND
Despite the decision of Mr. Justice Stringer fixing the last cost-of-living bonus at 3/, the twelve sections of the General Labourers' Union intend to put up a fight for the much-discussed 9/ at the next sitting of the Arbitration Court. Applications for the greater amount have been filed in accordance with the requirements.of the Act. Twopence farthing per hour is asked for hourly workers, and 9/ per week for weekly workers.
Referring to the matter this morning the secretary of the General Labourers' Union, Mr. A. O'Neill, said that one section of the general labourers were already receiving a bonus of 8/ per week, but as stated, it was the intention of the union to seek 9/ per week bonus for all twelve sections.
