In connection with the shipping holdup caused by the strike of the stewards, ' Mr. Walsh, the secretary of the Seamen's Union, has communicated with the ship- ] owners giving them assurances on behalf of the seamen that the ships will be worked without any interruption in the future. Hβ repudiated tho suggestion that they would insist on "Job control." , as reported in the Prees. Mr. Walsh j said he seldom read the newspapers, and ' never believed them.— !A. and N.Z.) The last information from the owners' | side of the dispute was that they were | not inclined to recommission their ships j until they had proper pi.arantees that ; there would not be any more of the j frequently recurring stoppages of the , past, and" that the men would repudiate | the ""job control" policy, which would mean a "committee" on every ship to decide how the craft 'should be worked. j
