BALLOTS, NOT BULLETS
A.W.U. TAKES A VOTE
AITD FAVOURS ARBITRATION
(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.)
(Received 11.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, tnis day. Sir. Blakely, president of the Australian Workers' Union Conference, stated that the organisation favoured arbitration in preference to a strike, by 16,138 votes to 10,157 votes. He added that those advocating the strike were unintentionally selling the workers, and betraying unionism. Some preached that emancipation could be achieved only through blood and fire, but ballots were better than bullets.—(A. and N.Z.)
