EXPORTS AND IMPORTS.

TWO YEARS' FIGURES INTERESTING COMPARISONS. The important returns for the Decefflber quarter are given in the "Gazette issued on Thursday, and the export returns were issued last week, so that the figures for 1920 are now available. The exports for the past two years compare as under: — 1910. 1920. £ £ First naif .. 29.570.348 22.824.872 Second halt . 23.770.304 23.617.0.4 . Totals .. £53,340,742 £46,441,946 There was thus a decrease in exports last year of £6,898,796. The imports show a reverse movement, for there is an increase of over 100 per cent, that is, the imports have more than doubled. If the difference between the exports and imports for each of the past two years is ta-ken, the changed conditions are forcibly illustrated: — Exports. Last year the imports exceeded the exports by a large amount, £15,153,882.
