EGG-LAYING CONTEST.
The .forty.first week or the Auckland Poultry-keepers' Association's second singlepen and team egg-laying competitions conclude- last Monday. There was another decrease in the number of eggs laid, as many of the birds are moulting, especially in the duck section. There is a possibility of several of the individual ducks reaching the -(■O-egg mark, and the leading birds In this section are laying better than either the fowls or ducks competing In any of the otuer competitions in the Dominion. The leading duck—W. Vennall's No. 3, with a score of 27-—is still in good form, and the same breeder's No. 2 is second with 262, ami G. KWlngton's No. 6 third with 24U — ail Indian Runners. J. W. Williams' No. 3 leads the light breeds with 224. the Waitoitoi Stud Farm's No. 1 In No. 1 team being second with -10. and A. A. Avery's No. 6 third with 217—a1l White Leghorns. In the heavy breeds H. G. Perritt's Xo. 2 leads with 221, the Hon. C. H. laird's No. G is second with 21U, and G. H. Shaw's No. 6 third with 210—all Black Orpingtons.
