THE ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.

RECORD ENTRIES IX ALL CLASSES. A 810 DAY ON THE HARBOUR The eighty-first birthday of the Dominion .will be celobrated to-morrow in the time-honoured way by holding a regatta and aquatic uports on the haTbour. Record entries have been received this year for all events, and from early morning the harbour will be alive with sailing craft of all sizes. In the firstclass yacht race there are eleven competitors, while no less than fourteen boata will take part in the one-design class, including Lord Jellicoe's Iron Duke. The motor-boat events are also well filled, nnd some record speeds aTe promised in the open championship launch race, one of the competitors j having the reputation of doing 40 miles per hour. This year the usual flagship has been dispensed with, and the public will be catered for at Calliope Dock. I where a good programme of swimming, events and other side shows will be run j off, the enclosed ".vaters of the dock admir-1 ably suiting this class of water sport,' while the. steps of the dock form a; natural grandstand. Special steamers leave the end of Queen's wharf as required, and refreshments can be obtained j on the ground. j With the promise of fine weather an i excellent day's sport is assured, and 10-21 regatta should rank as one of the. best ever held on the Waitemata.
