GALE ON BRITISH COAST.
SEVERAL VESSELS WRECKED. HEAVY LOSS OF LIFE. LONDON", December 4. A severe yale is raging round the British Isles. Several coastal vessels have been wrecked with loss of life. Five of tlic creiv of the Rhoseolyu Anglesey) lifeboat were drowned while proceeding to the assistance of a vessel in Carnarvon Hay. Four of the crew of the wrecked vessel were also drowned owing to one of the ship's boats being overwhelmed.
An unknown schooner eank in tlu> Humber with all hands.
Several ships in the Tyne broke from their moorings and collided with others, doing considerable damage.—A. and N.Z.
The big steamers Ansgir and llathor were lost on the coast of Cornwall. The two crews, totalling lift, were rescued, that of the Ilathor by lifeboats and the rocket apparatus.
