HAMILTON SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL
(By Telegraph.-Own Comspa_s_l.)
HAMILTON, this day.
A public meeting held yesterday decided to erect a war memorial in the Soldiers' Memorial Park. A campaign to raise £10,000 will be launched almost immediately. The scheme will include the laying out of the park, which is situated on the eastern side of the river, adjacent to the traffic bridge, on the spot where the first settlers landed. Committees were set up to canvass and select a design. It was decided that the monument must be non-utilitarian, and purely a memorial.
