NEW BISHOP FOR DUNEDIN. (Received 8.80 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Dr. Whyte, the newly-appointed Roman Catholic Bishop of Dunedin, is a paascnger by the Manuka, which left on Thursday for Wellington.—(A and N.Z.) MEMBERS' SALARIES. SYDNEY, this day. After a disorderly debate the Legislative Assembly carried the first reading of the bill to increase members' salaries. (A. and N.Z. Cable.) CREWS PAID OFF. SYDNEY, this day. The Wyreema'a crew was paid off and the vessel laid up, the men being determined not to sail without their delegate, who was dismissed by the chief engineer. The Brisbane Seamen's Union demanded the appointment of extra trimmers on the Arrawatta, The request was refused, the vessel being laid up.—(A. and N_.)
