SPORTS PROTECTION LEAGUE
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Auckland ! branch of the New Zealand Sports Protection League was held on t'riday, Mr. John Kowe presiding. The unuual report stated that at last general election every candidate was interviewed and hts views uijou matters vital to the league obtained. Candidates were aeked to sign a pledge supporting che policy of tlie league. Only one opponent of tile league was elected. The response to the appeal for subscriptions was very pood indeed, a-3 £2u« 17 was donated Un<ludinj; a giant of £M from the -board of iitacrol toward travelling expenses). Tills cleared on! a liability of tao and left a credit balance of £13 3/11. The chairman emphasised the fact that the league offered itself ok an organisation lor the promotion of every legitimate sport, «ud thu protection of the same from tue wautou attacks of would-be spoilers.
