POLICE COURT.
('Before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M.) BEEN IN SOAK. Minnie Harris (50), who had been- "before the Court yesterday on a charge of being illegally by night on the premises of a ship at the wharf, and had been given a chance, was caught drunk later in the day. She wa-s fined 20/. in default 48 hours' imprisonment. A first offender, who had gone to the police for protection against himself as the result of drinking, was remanded for a week for medical treatment. Another "ho ■had been found at Helensville in thp first stages of d. t.'s. and 'had a week on medical treatment, was charged 12/ for the cure, in default 48 hours , imprisonment. CHRONICALLY WORK-SHY. "Suppose I'll have to plead guilty." remarked a strong, healthy man, Roger James Coyle (24), when charged with being an idle and disorderly pereon. Although Coyle was young, sound in wind and limb, and of more than ordinary strength, be had a police hietory, including half a dozen convictions for" vagrancy Sub-Inspector Wohlmann stated that the man's specialty eeemed to be -frequenting public houses, and cultivating the confidence and financial assistance of drunk men He was sentenced to three month*' •hard labour, to be followed by two years' reformatory detention
