Devonshire, England. A quiet military wedding took place on Saturday afternoon last at St. •Peter's Church, Wellington, when Te Rongokahira Parata, widow of the late Mr. C. Parata, M.P., was married to Staff-Sergeant Leonard Robertshaw, N.Z.A.0.C., second son of Mr. and Mrs. F. - J. Robertshaw, of Takapuna, Auckland. The bride, who was given away toy her cousin, Captain R. H. Vercoe. D.5.0., D.C.M., wore a navy travelling costume, wtih a large leghorn hat, and was attended 'by 'Miss Girlie Anher and Miss E. Topi, who also wore blue costumes. Bugler Vini, N-..A.0.C, wattle best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. Fielden Taylor. The monthly meeting of the Haeremai Club took place last Tuesday. The president, Miss Butler, presided. A very interesting address was given by Professor Dettmann on the "Puns and Parodies of English Literature." A recitation was also given by Miss Morton. A quiet, pretty wedding was solemnised at the Baptist Church, Ponsonby, on Wednesday last, when Miss Lily Isabel Brady, youngest daughter of Mrs. M. .). Brady, and the late Jas. Brady, of Ardmore Road, Heme Bay, was married to Mr. Edward Fowler, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Fowler, of Hamilton Road. Ponsonby. The church had been tastefully decorated for the occasion by girl friends of the bride, and a wedding bell composed of white flowers was hung before the pulpit. The Rev. L. B. Busfield performed the ceremony. The bride entered the churcn on the arm of her brother, Mr. C. C. Brady, who gave her away, and wore a dress of soft ivory silk embroidered with, pale pink and silver. The train was lined with palest pink, and was draped from the shoulder. She wore a lace Veil and carried a white bouquet. The -ride was attended by her youngest sister, Mi3s Madeline Brady, who wore a dainty little frock of creme net and large leghorn picture hat, and carried a posy of pink and white flowers. The brother of the bridegroom, Mr. E. Fowler, was best man. A charming wedding took place on Wednesday at St. Aidan's Church, Remuera, when Miss Gwendoline Mary Beale, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Beale, of Bassett Road, Remuera, was married to Mr. W. G. Wood, eldest son of the late Mr. W. and Mrs. Wood, of Napier. The church had been charmingly decorated for the occasion by girl friends of the bride in a scheme of white lilies and clematis, with a large wedding bell over the chancel. Archdeacon Evans performed the ceremony. The bride, who entered the church 'on the arm of 'her lather, was beautifully dressed in white satin and lace made with a train lined with a delicate shade of pink, and wore the usual veil and a small wreath of orange blossoms, the whole ensemble being finished with a bouquet of white orchids and sweet peas, tied with white satin hoops. Miss Beryl Cato, of Napier, and Miss Helena Fraser, of St. Stephen's Avenue, acted as bridesmaids, and wore frocks of white marquisette over pink silk, and carried bouquets of pink and blue flowers. The costumes were completed with very beautiful hats in gold. Mr. J. Cato, of Napier, acted as best man, and Mr. W. Lane, of Napier, as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home Of Mrs. P. R. Fraser, St. Stephen's Avenue. The wedding breakfast was spread in the din ing -i worn on a round table decorated with pink, blue, and heliotrope flowers and ribbons to match. Mrs. Beale wore a prune silk frock with hat to match; Mrs. Fraser, grey and black georgette and black hat; Mrs. Wood, mother of the bridegroom, wore brown; Mrs. Cato, taffeta silk; Mrs. Ransom, black silk; Mrs. Kirker, mole panne velvet with georgette. Amongst the guests were Lady Lock-art, Mesdames Dryden, Mahon, Williams, A. McCosh Clark, Rowley, Murphy, Pierce, Noble, de Paris, Holderness, Krater, Hibbard, Russell, Leatham, H. Kissling, and the Misses Ella Fyme, V. Fyme, and Leatham. ............ TTTTTTTTTT

Mrs. English has returned home after a long holiday South. Mr. and Mrs. H. Ferguson have gone on a short visit to Wellington. Mrs.' Motion has been on a vi6it to Mrs. A. Bond. Mrs. Furze is on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. C. Allen. Miss Wa'llnutt has been visiting Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. I. Jolly have returned to their home after a delightful holiday in Australia. Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Ansenne, Auckland, have been on a visit to Hamilton, staying with Mrs. Douglas. Miss Newell, of Devonport, has been the guest of Miss Cwynne during the golf tournament. Miss L. pumaen has returned after spending a few weeks with her mother in Hamilton. Mrs. C Bennett, Orini, has been on a visit to her sister Mrs. C Allen, Mrs. Holloway is at present on a visit to Auckland. The Hamilton Croquet Club held a five hundred evening in the Toorak Chambers. There was a good attendance. The room was prettily decorated with pink camellia-, lira. Cowles and Miss W_l_r_tt won the prizes. The ladies' golf tournament came to a close on Saturday afternoon, after a very pleasant time, when everything possible was done to make the plsvere enjoy their visit to Hamilton.
