EGG-LAYING CONTEST.
The twenty-fourth week of the Auckland Poultry-keepers' Association's second singlepen and team egg-laying contests concluded on -Monday. The open section, consisting of 504 birds, laid 256S eggs. The 40 teams of light breeds laid 1232, the 32 teams of heavy breeds 1)20, and the 12 teams of ducks 416. Individual ducks recorded 33 possibles. the light breeds 17, and the heavy breeds 14. The heavy breeds are showing the increased broodincss usual at this season. In the duck section, W. H. C. Vennall's team of Indian Runners has displaced <J. Ewington's team that has held first place for a considerable time. W. H. C. Vennall's No. 3 Indian Runner now leads the individual! with 158 eggs. S. 11. Scott's No. 2 "White Indian Runner second with 137. and Mrs. M. McCullagh's Xo. 1 White Indian Runner third with 155. In the fowl section, light breeds, C. Thomas' Xo. 1 bird leads with 136, E. W. Griffiths' No. 3 is next with 132, while L. D. Bell's Xo. 1 and J. Small's X«----3 tie for third place with 12S each (all White Leghorns). In the heavy breeds, E. Ha-ugard's Xo. 2 again leads with 13-1, It. S. Hlgginbotham's No. 5 is second with 133, and R. Glasgovf's next wirh 131 (all BlaoS Orpingtons).
