» ROYAL N.Z. YACHT SQUADRON. FORTY-NINTH ANNEAL MEETING. The forty-ninth annual meeting of the Squadron was held in tbe clnb room. Queen Street, last evening,, Vice-Commodore A. Burt presiding over a very good attendance. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Commodore B. C. Blomfleld and Mr. H. D. Heather. The report and balance-sheet, which had been circulated amongst members, was adopted on the motion of Mr. Burt, who congratulated the members on the fine position the club had attained boGh as regards member-hip and —nance. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season:—Patron, His Excellency the Governor, Lord Jellteoe; commodore, Mr. J. B. Johnston; vice-commodore, Mr. A. IBurt; rear-commodore. Air. A. 'E. Gilford; lion, secretary and treasurer, -Mr. B. W. 'Beaumont; hon. Mr. J. Alexander; hon. auditors, Messrs. J. -H. Frater md J. F. 'Holliurnke; hon. measurers, Messrs. C. Harrison Smith and C. Trevlthick; committee, Messrs. W. P. JCndean, J. iH. Frater, G. Hodgson, E. J. Kelly, N. L. Maoky, R. T. Phllson, G. S. Reld. L. Jenkinson, V. Pearce and K. Rutherford. Messrs. Johnston, Burt, and Gilford returned thanks for their election as flag officers. The new rules were adbpted and rotes of thanks accorded the following retlrlug officers: —Mr. E. C. 'Blomfleld '(commodore), Mr. .1. T. Garrett (hon. secretary), Mr. iS. ('. -Heigh way (hon. treasurer), and Mr. N. G. L. Erson (assistant hon. secretary). A handsome trophy in the form of a metre yacht under full sail was donated by Messrs. Hurdle Bros. Captain A. Whitney also promised a trophy, and an anonymous donor the sum of _50, and Mr. G. L. Thorbuni £23, both for the 14-foot class. SWIMMING. A proposal to Invite the Honolulu and American swimmers who were so successful at the Olympic sports f-Duke Paoa Kabanamoka, Warren Kealoha. and Ludy Longer) to visit New Zealand* and give exhibitions this summer ls afoot, and the various centres of the Dominion are to he canvassed for tbe purpose of supporting and financing- the project. GALA AT TEPID BATHS. The swimming season will be opened this evening with a gala at the Tepid Baths under the auspices of the Auckland Swimming Centre. The open events are restricted to 30yd dashes for men and women, and there are •competitions for novices and schoolboys In addition to novelty events.
