SERIOUS DISLOCATION.
RAIN STILL FALLING. L-LNE BADLY BLOCKED. (By Telegraph.—Press Associateon.) WELDCTGTOiM, t_ _ day. Serious dislocation of traffic on the Main Trunk line is reported by the Railway Department. YjsterdayV. mid-day express from Wellington -so Auckland got through all right, but, owing to neavy slips between Mataroa and Mangaweka. and a washout between Huntervilie and Rata, the line is blocked between Marton and Ohakune. Yesterday's day express from Auckland is held up at Taihape, and the night express from Auckland has only got as far as Ohakune. Last night's Auckland express from Wellington is still at Marton. IPassen--1 gers by the Aiickland-Wellington express, now at Ohakune, are to be transferred by road to another train at Taihape. wliich will be dispatched as soon as the line is clear, but _t present the authorities cannot say when that will 'be possible, or when the train may be expected to reach Wellington. It has been decided that the Wellington to Auckland mid-day express must be cancelled. This morning the Department was ; advised that it was still raining heavily ! in the affected district. WANGANUI WATER-LOGGED. , (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI, this day. Very heavy rain fell last night, and ■ all the low-lying parts of Wanganui 1 East arc under water. Many houses were inundated, and dead fowls were floating all ov_|the place this morning. ■ That heavy rains also fell in the hinterland is proved by the swollen appearance ' of the rivers. •SPECIAL"' FROM TAUMARtJNOT.
