SUPS AND WASHOUT.
■ TRAIN SERVICE DISLOCATED. TWO EXPRESSES HELD x*. THE MIDDAY CANCELLED. ! Seriou3 dislocation of the Main Trunk radway service lias resulted from several slips and a washout that made their appearance during the recent heavy rams. The slips are distributed over the area between Hihitahi and Taihape, while the washout is on a section south of Hunteryille. The 1 p.m. express that left tae city for Wellington yesterday only got as far as Taihape and the 7.10 evening express for the same destination came to a stop at Ohakune and there they still remain. The 8.30 p.m. Wellington-Auckland express is hung up at Marton. The express that waa due to leave this city for Wellington at 1 p.m. to-day did not run. ' ; The local head office of the Railway Department anticipates that the tracksouth of Taihape will be cleared to-day. but in respect to the section north of that station they cannot give any definite idea at the present as to when it might be clear for running. This latter section will probably not be cleared until to-morrow. In consequence of the dislocation of the service the mails that were due here from Wellington at 3 this afternoon had to be diverted at Marton, for New Plymouth, with the result that they"w_l » not arrive until to-morrow morning by the Rarawa.
