TIMBER TOTALS.
OUTPUT AND EXPORT. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Eeoorterjf WELLINGTON, Thursday. A statement of output and export of New Zealand timber, submitted by the Minister in Charge of the Board of Trade, shows that the only varieties exported last year were rimu atfd kauri. The figures for 1919-20 are as follows:—! Superficial feet: Rimu, exported 1,010,----000 ft, placed on local market 135,483,----203 ft. or 93 per cent, of the total; kauri, exported 362.000 ft, placed on local market 22,236,391 ft, or 95.4 per cent.; matai, exported nil, local market 17,820,----597 ft: totara, exported nil, local market 14.414.298 ft. Of the total output of 200,417,489 ft. 10.463,000 ft, or 5.3 per cent, was exported. The Minister stated that) in the year 1917-18,.when,there was no control over export, 35,559,030 ft, or 22.9 per cent, was exported, and 134,320,617 ft or 77.1 -per cent, placed on the local market. Last year's output of timber was 41.-1 per cent, larger than in 1917-18. |
