EUROPE'S STARVING CHILDREN.
SUM OF £12,598 NOW COLLECTED. Mr. H. r. Caughey, chairman of the fund to assist in saving the children of Central Europe, reports that the contributions have now reached the sum of £12,5!)S 3/3. of which the city contributions total £7422 2/10, and contributions from provincial districts and Samoa £5176 1/5. This latter amount includes the following: Hnmilton (lirst contribution), £25-0: Red Cross (remitted direct), £1000: Thames, £452 2/10; Opotiki, £341 15/3; Rotorua, £330; Waihi, £200: Samoa. £175 (3/2; Te Awamutu. £08 0/4: and Cambridge. £78 16/. Of the amount subscribed £10,000 has been put into the public account to the credit of the Internal Affairs Department, which will remit the money to the High Commissioner in London.
