AUCKLAND'S VITAL STATISTICS MORE CRADLES. ROCKING. MARRIAGE MARKET BRISK. The past month has been a busy one lin the office of. the Auckland Registrar I -of Births, Marriages, and Deaths, while ; the figures for the eight months of the j present year, when compared with the j returns for the corresponding period last j year, show a sub-tantial advance in the , number of cradles filled and in couples •j joined in marriage. 'Up to noon to-day the. births for the I month totalled 275, compared with 2-0 |in August, 1010, and for the eight months jof the present year 22-1 little strangers j were welcomed, as against 1522 in the .corresponding eight months of 1919, showing an increase of 4R9 for the eight months. Tho marriages solemnised in the past month numbered 170, compared with 142 in August, 1010. while in the eightmonthly period from January 1 there have been 1470 couples joined'for better i for worse in Auckland and'its suburbs. | which is 44S moTe than were married in the first eight months of last year. Those who preferred the civil marriage | 'to the religious ceremony totalled 41 | this month as against 3_" last August. I and in the eight months of the present year the registrar has solemnised 3SO lof the marriages as compared with 202 lin the first eight months of 19-10. ! The deaths also show an increase ■ over those of last August, the figures | being 173 and 160 respectively. ] n the [ eight months spent of the current year they have totalled 1001, and in the'eorresponding eight months of 1919 there wore 1009 deaths recorded in Auckland and its environs.
