PRICES INVESTIGATION.

' ■■-•■ .. MANY NEW COMPLAINTS. Complaints about the charges for gas in Auckland since the introduction of reduced pressures have now reached the Auckland Prices Investigation Tribunal, to whom specific complaints have been made in more than one instance. In addition to this matter the outstanding cases before the Tribunal include medical fees, opticians' charges, and the cost of printer's paper. New complaints received include charges for articles made of flannel. Several cases were this moyiing struck out by the Tribunal owing to the failure of the people who laid the original complaints to support them with the necessary information. They were given every opportunity to make good their assertions, but in spite of the fact that they were communicated with they did not reply, and the Tribunal was compelled to strike the cases out. The chairman (Mr. Wesley Spragg). who returned from Wellington this morning, inquired while at the Capital into the possibility of the Government undertaking the manufacture of stirgical boots and splints, a subject upon which he will subsequently make a special report. While in Wellington Mr. Spragg also discussed the advisability of amending regulations to give the Board of Trade wider powers than they possess at present, in order that their work might be more effectively carried out.
